Your bat-friendly wildflower seeds

All the bat species in the UK are insectivores (insect-eaters) - and they feed mostly at night.

That means you can help bats by sowing wildflower seeds that attract lots of insects - and night-scented wildflowers are particularly valuable!

We've created this wildflower mix specifically to support bats (and it's brilliant for daytime pollinating insects, too).

Full species list: Evening primrose, night-flowering catchfly, foxglove, borage, corncockle, corn chamomile, field poppy, long-headed poppy, wild blue cornflower, common forget-me-not, corn marigold, scented mayweed.

This mix is best sown August-October, to flower the following spring. That's because some of the species - notably evening primrose - need a period of cold to help them germinate.

Choose your packet size

Just use the 'choose your packet size' dropdown above to select one of the following two options:

  • Regular packet (covers c. 1 square metre of bare soil)
  • Bumper bat-happy packet (covers c. 5 square metres of bare soil - for example, a border area that is five metres long and one metre wide).

Your postcard and sticker

Every packet of our bat-friendly wildflower seed mix comes with a large and very cute Bat Bothy postcard, complete with lots of interesting facts about bats. The perfect wee learning tool to get children (or adults!) interested in bats everywhere.

You'll also get a big eco-friendly Bat Bothy sticker. Why not show your support by sticking it on your favourite journal?

Wildflower seeds to save bats!

    Our postcards

    All the postcards are extra-large, A5 size - that's 21cm x 14.8cm.

They're printed on uncoated, bright white 380gsm card. That means they're nice and sturdy, and perfect for writing on with any sort of pen.

    Our seeds

We source all our seeds from a small network of trusted Scottish / UK suppliers.

We use seed-proof, hand-filled glassine paper seed packets for all our seeds. Glassine paper is 100% plastic-free, fully recyclable and biodegradable. This approach means we can also avoid the foil-sealed sachets many seed companies use, which are sadly not able to be recycled.

The clear cello bags we use to protect your items are also plant-based and 100% biodegradable.

    Shipping destinations

We currently sell and ship our items to people in Scotland, England and Wales. Sadly, due to new export regulations following Brexit, we are are no longer able to deliver to Northern Ireland. We very much hope this will change in the future.

    Protecting your items in transit

Your items will be carefully packaged and fully protected in transit. We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously, and don't use any plastic in our packaging.

We've replaced parcel tape with brown paper tape, bubble wrap with tissue paper, jiffy bags with cardboard boxes or brown paper, and polystyrene 'peanuts' with GM-free starch-based loose fill, which is 100% biodegradable and compostable.
